What does compassion have to do with eternal life? Jesus tells a story about the good Samaritan in order to show us how far we are from fulfilling the Law.

Given enough time, people will show the true motivations of their heart. This parable shows us this very principle. And what we come to understand is that we must be careful to ensure that the things we own don’t end up owning us; that we don’t seek security in the things of this world.

The Pharisees valued earthly life above God, and twisted Scripture to suit their desires. But to toy with Scripture is to toy with your eternal fate.

We must be wise and faithful in whatever God places at our disposal. The tale of the unjust manager is a reminder that the heaven is worth working for more than all the riches of earth.

Are we being faithful in light of Christ's return? We must live in eager expectation.
