The Parables of Jesus
The Parables of the Lost Sheep And Lost Coin
Luke 15:1-10

The heart of God delights in rescuing sinners. In Luke 15, Jesus tells the crowds parables about the joy of God to call us to Himself. The Christian life is not the most blessed life because we are sinless or trouble-free, but because no matter what we face, we are a delight to the heart of God.
He is the seeker of sinners. In eternity past, the sovereign God decreed His love upon us. He does not stop until we are rescued, just like the shepherd who kept looking until he found the lost sheep, or the woman who sought after her coin. He seeks us until He finds us.
He deals tenderly with sinners. He works trials in our life that do not crush our faith, but disciplines us for our good, to share in His holiness.
He always declares our preciousness to Him. Like the woman who treasured her lost coin, so God treasures us. We are His workmanship, and He is exuberant over the expression of His love. He loves to put His love towards us on display. God redeems because He loves to show His creatures who He is.
