The Parables of Jesus Christ
The Unfaithful Steward
Luke 16:1-8

We must be wise and faithful in whatever God places at our disposal. The tale of the unjust manager is a reminder that the heaven is worth working for more than all the riches of earth.
The unjust manager was disgraced by his abuse of his master's funds. Before he left, he made friends with his master's debtors by cheating on their accounts.
When the master uncovered his steward's cunning, he admired his cunning tactics. The steward had foresight for his future, and put effort into making it secure.
The point Jesus makes is that unbelievers often seek after their earthly future more than believers their heavenly. Surely we who have eternal hope ought to be more zealous in living for lasting things.
Money is a resource to be used for the good of others. Everything we have belongs to the Lord; we are mere stewards of his resources. Money must never usurp the place of God in our hearts.
