Living With Purpose
Psalm 131
21 January 2024

David wants his readers to live a life of purpose. While the pursuit of happiness leaves one empty, a life of devotion to the Lord is eternally fulfilling.

We know that the Lord is all-knowing (v. 1 - 6). He knows us intimately, with all our faults and mixed motivations. He scrutinizes our routines to see what we do, and whether it is of value. He places us in the palm of His hand to guide and protect us.

We know the Lord is always present with us (v. 7 - 11). There is nowhere we can go to hide from God - and for the believer, this is a comfort. From height or depth, anywhere on earth or underneath, God is there with us. He will hold us fast, and His loving intentions towards us are only ever good.
