The Believer’s Response In Crisis
Psalm 27
14 January 2024
In times of trouble, David reminded himself of who God is. By seeing God's providence in his past, he had certainty that God would provide for his future. We can do the same!
We see the believer's confidence. David knew the Lord as his light and salvation, and that God was on his side. David feared the Lord, and so did not need to fear anything else.
We see the believer's closeness. David's one desire in trial was to be near to the Lord. The natural response in trial is to ask God why He permits it, but David knows the God has only good intentions for him. While David's enemies are still around him, he inclines his heart towards the Lord.
We see the believer's comfort. The Lord is with us in our trials, whatever they may be. Our rest must be in our God's watch over us, as it was for David.
We see the believer's counsel. David wants to know God's ways so that he does not respond wrongly, like his enemies. In tough times, we need to press into learning truth, not away from it. Wait for God with hope and expectation that He will act - because He will.
