Series in Hosea: O Love That Will Not Let Me Go
The Danger of Falsehood
Hosea 5:1 - 6:11

Gomer had turned away from Hosea in the same way that Israel turned away from God. If we practise a lifestyle of drifting, we will pass a point we cannot return. In Hosea, we see God desiring Israel to return to Him, but they are caught in sin and religious motions. God eventually withdraws from them because of their treachery.
Ephraim thought it was more practical to get human help from Assyria than from God, but it was a false sense of security. If we want to come near to God, there must be an acknowledgement of our sin. We must repent not because we were hurt, but because we hurt the Lord.
