Celebrity is nothing new - in the days of Rome, sophists were the popular icons. But Christian leadership is about God's, and not human glory.

Ministers should not be exalted because they are servants. The Corinthian church had the wrong focus, and looked at prominent preachers as celebrities to idolize, rather than seeing them as servants of Christ.

Ministers should not be exalted because God grows His Church. God is the one who saves, and never the preacher by his eloquence or power. God gives faith through His Word.

Ministers should not be exalted because God evaluates the work. They must stand before Christ to be examined in how they lived. We cannot decide this for the Lord by looking at their popularity.

Ministers should not be exalted because God owns everything. We are all merely God's workers, and we work for His glory. Faithful leaders are to be shown respect and honour, but never idolized.
