James' message to us is that faith without works doesn't work. Salvific faith is always based on the grace of Jesus Christ.

Like Simon the sorcerer in Acts, a person who confesses Jesus Christ but does not believe, and follow Him with their whole heart does not have saving faith. Instead, we can see the example of Abraham, who truly believed God; and his works demonstrated his true faith. This faith is not merely orthodox belief and good knowledge, it is living out what we know. Knowing God means we will also desire to serve Him.

Faith alone justifies, but the faith that justifies is never alone.
