As believers, we should be representing Jesus Christ, having a faith that works. The standard for how we should treat others is God's Word.
If we are heirs of the kingdom, the standard we should follow is love. We are called to seek the welfare of others above our own, this is agape love. Following after love is the fulfilment of the law.
Favouritism violates God's standard. Instead of showing hate and partiality, God wants us to show love from a renewed heart. The only right response is confession that we are guilty of violating God's standard. He will forgive us and help us love from the heart.
