Jesus Christ is supreme over the new creation. He is its ruler. He is the beginning of the church because He rose from the dead, and His victory over death guarantees resurrection for all saints! He is the head of the body; the part that governs all else.
Jesus Christ is preeminent; the one who has first place in all things. Since this is who He is, do we give Him first place in our hearts?
Jesus Christ is deity (v. 19); the totality of God in the incarnation. He is both fully God and man. He is also the reconciler of God and man; the personal agent who brought us back to God.
