The Lord's profound emotion was displayed in the mourning of Lazarus. He sympathized with the mourning, and was sad for the loss of a dear friend. He was indignant as well, seeing the ramifications of sin, and the unbelief around Him.

Jesus made a particular promise to Martha that if she believed and obeyed, she would see His glory. She hesitated at first to open the tomb because Lazarus had been dead four days, but obeyed.

Jesus prayed a purposeful prayer in the midst of the mourning. He prayed aloud so that all would hear, and would know that Jesus was working with the Father.

Jesus displayed his preeminent power in raising the dead. He yelled out for Lazarus to come back to life, and Lazarus lived. His decayed body was instantly transformed, proving that Jesus is the Creator of life.
