25 The Overwhelming Testimony To The Deity of Christ (John 5:30-47)

Chad Coley Series in John The Overwhelming Testimony to the Deity of Christ John 5:30 - 47 13 June 2021 The Pharisees had elevated their traditions to the level of Scripture. But all life and authority comes from Jesus Christ, and this is whom the Scriptures and prophets point to. We have need of the testimony about Jesus Christ so we can know God. Jesus did not need anyone to validate His works, but He spoke for our sake, that we might know Him. We see the witness of John the Baptist pointing to Jesus Christ. He was the first prophet sent by God in 400 years, and so the people flocked to hear him. He preached repentance and sin, preparing hearts for the Messiah. We see the witness of the Father about His Son. The Father had a predetermined plan before all of creation to send His Son to earth. The work which the Son came to do was the work of His Father. We see the Scripture witness to Christ. The Pharisees had studied the Scriptures, though were blind to whom it pointed to. They had studied it as merely an historical document, refusing its testimony about the true Messiah. But like the other witnesses, the Scripture points us to Jesus.
