God shows great mercy through Jesus Christ. While the Pharisees insisted on traditions and laws they could not keep, Christ offers forgiveness.
All have sinned. The Pharisees had no compassion on the woman caught in adultery, and wanted to use her to trap Jesus. But all, including the Pharisees, are naturally under the curse of the law. The Pharisees put their hope in keeping their traditions and laws, and held it above their love for God and others.
The answer is grace. We have all experienced sin, we all need grace, and Christ offers it. God determines judgment, and also extends forgiveness to the repentant.
