Miracles are never enough to persuade someone to believe. Instead, they are the evidence they are approved by God.

Jesus manifested His glory in His sovereignty. The Jewish leaders demanded another sign from Him after He cleansed the temple because they still did not believe. The truth is that signs are never enough for someone who will not believe. As Jesus said in a parable, if someone will not believe the Scriptures, neither will they be convinced if one rises from the dead. And that is the sign He says He will give them.

In His omnipotence He knew the hearts of the crowds as well. Although they followed Him, they did so because of His popularity, and because they wanted to see signs. But true faith is belief in Jesus Christ for the reality of who He is. Signs merely point to this.
