The Gospel According to John
The Nature of Worship
Selected Scriptures
11 October 2020
The book of John is about who Christ is. Everyone is made to worship, and if we do not worship God, we will worship something else. True worship is not an experience or emotion, but engaging with God in the manner, and with the heart He desires.
John begins by showing us who Christ is. True worship is fundamentally about knowing who He really is; and unless we truly know Him, we cannot offer acceptable praise. John calls us to give Jesus the glory He deserves, because He is the revelation of God.
We can only worship in the means and manner God prescribes. God loves and accepts true worshipers who worship Him for who He is in faith and obedience. This means being in a right relationship with God. True worship starts with being born again, and worshiping Him in the manner He desires.
