Living With Purpose, Part 3
Psalm 139:19 - 24
11 February 2024

God is holy and man is not; we desire the Lord's return that justice may be done at last. Like David, we affirm our loyalty to God when we cry out to Him.

We cry out to God for justice, praying according to the will of God. David does not take vengeance into his own hands, but entrusts it to God. We desire that all people would turn to God; our sin will either be suffered by Christ, or we will pay it ourselves.

We affirm our loyalty to God. David is angry because God's name is being dishonoured, and sin should grieve us because it is an affront to a holy God.

David knows that the only thing hindering his relationship with God is his sin, so he asks the Lord to search and purify him. A life of faith bears repentance continually, which is pleasing to the Lord. God both hates evil, and loves sinners so much that He would send Christ to bear the punishment we deserve.
