Love is knowing who God is. We can only offer true worship if we know the true God; and to know Him is to love Him.

We see God's love in Hosea, and our own unfaithfulness in Gomer. We see Christ, and the gospel in this book. The story is one of God's unfailing love to His people despite their infidelity to Him.

If we are outraged at Gomer's infidelity, should we not also be outraged at our own unfaithfulness to God? Idolatry is just as scandalous as infidelity. When anything takes the prominence of God, that is sin.

God will not compromise His love for us by allowing us to compromise with sin. Hosea did not purchase Gomer to continue in her old lifestyle; and Christ did not purchase us to continue in sin. The expectation of the relationship is transformation in each.
