James 4:4-6

What we think determines what we say and do. James says that the test of true wisdom is living out what we know about God in practice.
Godly wisdom produces godly behaviour. Being able to evaluate life in perspective of the truth is the only true wisdom. God gives the Holy Spirit to His people alone in order to lead them to this truth, and sanctify them.
We are naturally selfish people who seek first our own ends. James says that this selfish ambition is not evidence of wisdom; what we need instead is humility to follow God. Every good thing comes from His hand ultimately, and not our own strength or abilities.
We can't know God through human wisdom. Only through the Holy Spirit can we know Christ, the true wisdom.
