1 CORINTHIANS 1-2

Much of the Western world will celebrate Easter this weekend without a thought toward what Easter really means. They kinda know a little about Easter’s Christian roots, but if you ask people who Jesus is you will get a myriad of responses. Most will say that He was a good teacher or good man, some will even say that there is no such person as the historical Jesus and call Him a fable handed down through the centuries.

The world we live in thinks that the gospel message of a Saviour dying on a cross and rising again is foolishness (1 Cor 1:18). The gospel goes against everything that people believe about themselves. They believe they are masters of their own destiny and that they can control their spiritual future by their own will and actions. To accept by faith the simple gospel that Jesus Christ lived a perfect life, sacrificed Himself on a cross for our sins, rose again on the third day, and ascended to heaven (1 Cor 2:1-4) is too much for prideful man. They cannot accept that they cannot save themselves.

Do not be surprised brethren when the world laughs and mocks you because you are going to worship the Lord Jesus this Easter weekend. We know THE TRUTH, and HE has set us free from bondage to sin, to Satan, and this world. Give glory to the Lamb of God who was slain for our sins. Praise to God that we believed the foolishness of the Gospel and know the true meaning of Easter. He is risen...He is risen indeed.
