By faith Abraham when he was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance…” Hebrews 11:8
With a New Year dawning I always find it a good time to reflect on the past and anticipate what the Lord might offer in the New Year.
And for the believer, it’s timely that we reflect and anticipate. Personal reflection needs to be on how faithful we have been to God and His call on our lives. We need to look back and evaluate our decisions, responses and commitments we have made and honestly measure them against the Word of God. In other words evaluate the measure of our active faith to the Lord! Some of us will be found wanting, and need to repent - but like the apostle Paul, we need to “press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14).
This is where we can anticipate! We know that God is ever faithful… but it is our faithfulness that He is pleased in and uses for His glory! (Heb.11:6)
I am looking forward to see how the Lord will use us at NCC in this next year. He has already providentially arranged some circumstances. He already has created some new opportunities…. He is testing our faith! So what do we do? Lets be like Abraham. Obey. He got into action right after God called Him, “not knowing where he was going.” (Heb. 11:8)
Lets be faithful to the Lord by committing and using every opportunity for His glory. And remember, “God does not ask about our ability, but our availability".
God bless and keep you and be gracious to you and may He give you peace in 2014.
