What Christians Pursue
The Pursuit of Heavenly Reward
Philippians 3:12-16

Paul had set his sight on the pursuit of heavenly reward because he had received the call to heaven. So have we.
The mindset of the pursuit of heavenly reward. What is it that we are to pursue? Paul considered everything he had achieved in life pointless compared to the righteousness of Jesus Christ. To be reconciled to God, we must be willing to lose our lives to gain Christ.
The motivation of the pursuit of heavenly reward. We pursue heaven because Christ has pursued us, and called us to it. If we understand the intensity with which Christ has taken hold of us, we will also take hold of him.
The method of the pursuit. It is a single-minded focus, forgetting what lies behind because we are wholly forgiven. We are to reach forward to what lies ahead - Christ. Rest in what the Spirit is doing in you, not what you have achieved.
We rest in what Christ has done. But we do not rest until we become like him, because that is what he has called us to.
