The Gospel According To John
The Unsurprising End of Jesus' Public Ministry
John 10:30 - 42

It is little surprise that the Jewish leaders who opposed Jesus all along would still reject Him at the end of His ministry. But even in the midst of this rejection, many of the people came to believe in Him.
In John 10, we see an unsurprising response from the Jewish leaders. They hated Jesus for claiming to be God, despite His many proofs. As at the start, they refused to believe Him at the end.
We see an unsurprising request. Jesus' final request to the leaders was to reconsider their response to Him. God had given them authority as judges over Israel to mediate the Law, but they had failed. Jesus gave them another opportunity to repent.
We see an unsurprising rejection from the Jewish leaders. The issue was never evidence, but unbelief. In their rejection of Christ, they proved themselves to not be His sheep.
We see an unsurprising reception. Jesus went back to the fruitful start of His ministry in Jordan, where many of the crowds had believed. He spent time with His disciples there, and many came to faith through John the Baptist's words.
