O Love That Will Not Let Me Go
Hosea 1:1 - 2:1

How does God see love, and how should we understand and respond to that love? God's love is a love that will not leave us as we are, but desires to perfect us.

In the time of Hosea, Israel had prospered, but they were spiritually bankrupt. Hosea was called to speak to them, and urge them back to faithfulness.

The plan of action God called for was for Hosea to marry a prostitute, and have children that were not his own. This was a picture of Israel's infidelity to God, and the pain that followed. The heart of this idolatry was a discontentment with Him.

Because there was sin, there would be judgement. Hosea's children were named after the coming judgement, and Israel was scattered as a nation as prophesied.

Still, the promise of restitution remains. God is faithful to His covenant, therefore there is hope. God has called the nations to Himself, and one day likewise Israel will return.
