It used to be in the past that people had a love for truth; it was held in high esteem. But in our culture today, the very existence of truth (and God) is debated! We seem okay to accept truth as long as it is relative to us. Our feelings have become more important than our ability to think. This is an age, writes Alistair Begg, in which “plausibility is given to every idea, and certainty to none.”
Revelation 19:11 says – “Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True”. So what are we to make of this claim?
1. GOD IS TRUE
A. God is true in his person (John 14:6; Deuteronomy 32:4)
Truth is more than just a fact. Truth is a person. Truth is the self expression of God. Jesus doesn’t claim to be a means to the truth. Rather, He claims to be the very embodiment of truth itself! If truth could be personified it would look like Jesus.
B. God says what is true (John 17:15-17)
2. GOD IS FAITHFUL
Everything God says and does IS certain. (Hebrews 10:23)
Be encouraged by God's faithfulness in all of life's circumstances.
A. When you’re in hard situations (Lamentations 3:22,23)
B. When you’re sliding away (1 Corinthians 1:8,9, Philippians 1:6)
C. When you’re tempted (1 Corinthians 10:13)
D. When you sin (1 John 1:9)
