How To Endure Suffering, Part 2
James 5:7 - 11
30 August 2020
In trials, James wants us to understand that we are not alone. The Holy Spirit is always present with us, empowering us to endure: and we have the examples of past saints.
When we are under pressure, we can know that God strengthens us specially to endure. When we focus on the Lord instead of on our troubles, we can endure trials well, with patience, because we know that He is with us.
James calls us to look to examples of the prophets and apostles who suffered. They were persecuted for preaching God's Word faithfully, but continued for the Lord's sake. These examples were written so that from them we might take hope.
Lastly, we can look to God - that is the only way that we will have strength through trials. We also know that God is pleased with, and rewards our patient endurance and faith.
