“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” John 14:15
In our everyday world some things are just made to go together. As a matter of fact, some things do not function unless the right ingredients are combined. For example, try and get your garden to grow without water or your children to read and write without training and the end result will be a disaster.
We understand the necessity of these combinations so we engage whatever is necessary to bring about a positive result.
There is also a necessary combination that gives evidenced of genuine salvation though Jesus Christ. I say this because, there are many who profess to believe in ‘Jesus’ but pay little heed to what their ‘belief’ produces.
Genuine belief or faith in Christ will produce a new heart that loves God and obeys Him. In other words, belief in Jesus Christ without obedience to the commands and words of Christ, only prove one’s faith is not the real deal. It has no eternal value. It is a false belief that continues to attract the wrath of God (Jn 3:36).
James 2:20 says, “….faith without works is useless” - just like a planted garden without water will never grow and a child without training will never read!
Faith and obedience are a work of God in the heart and life of any person who genuinely believes in Jesus Christ.
Genuine believers will respond to God in faith and obedience. We will love the Lord, and that love will be manifested in obeying Him. Are we doing that? Do some evaluation here. No obedience - no genuine believing love!
A.W. Tozer once said, “Our Lord told His disciples that love and obedience were organically united. The final test of love is obedience.” [Grace Quotes]
