Have this attitude in yourselves, which was also in Christ Jesus. Philippians 2:5
The above text is in reference to having an attitude that seeks out other people’s interests rather than being self-focused. As a matter of fact v.3 of the same chapter gives the direction of our thinking that is a result of having a right attitude - “regard one another more important than your selves.” Jesus our model, put others first.
So what kind of attitude are we developing and passing on to others around us? Some of us have a wrong and bad attitude about life because we simply are too self-focused and fail to consider others, as we should.
Our attitude is important, because, how we value and think about circumstances and people, shapes who become before God and others.
Our attitude to life can make us into grumpy, bitter, jealous, unthankful and greedy men and women if we surrender to life’s circumstances wrongly. But more importantly, our attitudes are passed on to others! Someone once said, “Attitudes are contagious. Are yours worth catching?”
Lets do a check on our attitude, and where necessary, submit to the sanctifying truth of God’s Word and pray for change.
I like how Chuck Swindol put it: “Words can never adequately convey the incredible impact of our attitude toward life. The longer I live the more convinced I become that life is 10 percent what happens to us and 90 percent how we respond to it.”
