“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,” Ephesians 1:7
God’s grace toward us is a well-known and highly valued fundamental truth of the gospel. We all remember and express our love for God, in that, if it was not for his grace, we could never know eternal salvation from the consequences of sin. This divine grace is effective in that “by grace you are saved through faith” (Eph. 2:8).
But often we treat the “riches of His grace” lightly by glossing over its deserved ongoing attention. In doing so we cheapen God’s grace. We can treat it as if it were merely the means of achieving our rescue from sins eternal consequences with little consideration of how it should influence our present.
The riches of God’s matchless grace, deserves at least, our ongoing daily submission and acknowledgement in our lives, that Jesus is not only our Saviour but he is Lord!
Is so sad when many who call themselves Christian, refuse to live under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
Vance Havner calls it like it is: We have suffered from the preaching of cheap grace. Grace is free, but it is not cheap. People will take anything that is free, but they are not interested in discipleship. They will take Christ as Savior but not as Lord.
Let us be disciples of Jesus Christ who own Him every day as Lord and not only a Savior that has dealt with our past and our future!
