GOD’S WISDOM AND POWER ON DISPLAY

Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure. Psalm 145.7

The wonder and awesome magnificence of God’s redemptive plan, involving Christ’s incarnation is surely beyond measure.

The greatest human mind because of its logical, rational, and comprehensible boundaries, fails to grasp fully the divine workings that brought about the incarnation; where God became man.

Just think about the wonder of this for a moment. The eternal Son, that is the ever-existing second person of the triune God, remained what He always was, yet stepped into time, our time, in the form of a man to become something that he never had been. But that’s not all. His tangible manhood, where he was made like unto His brethren, (Heb. 2.17) began as a seed in embryonic form in the womb of a woman, His chosen mother Mary.

But hold on - that Seed, that Holy Seed, conceived in Mary’s womb, was miraculously implanted there by the Holy Spirit of God (Mtt.1:20).

Think about that! The eternal, self existing, all powerful God, humbling Himself and becoming a dependent, reliant, contingent embryo in an ordinary, sinful women’s womb! This was how God in all His omnipotence and omniscience stepped into the affairs of men to bring about the redemption of His chosen people! Hallelujah what a Savior!

Man’s mind at its best, by itself, can only reject such displayed power and wisdom, as recorded in Scripture. It is only faith that grasps this truth and clings to it, no matter what.

But it so true, as Blaise Pascal once said, “The greatest single distinguishing feature of the omnipotence of God is that our imagination gets lost thinking about it.” What an awesome God we have - let us worship Him.
