Work 101
Colossians 3:22 - 4:1

We have a new identity in Christ; the only one that will remain. We are now motivated to live for God. So how does this apply to employment?
We are to have meekness in our work. The Romans enslaved people as part of their culture, and these slaves were not addressed in public. But Paul addresses them as equals, instructing them to be obedient in their workplaces, and showing respect to their masters whether good or bad.
The manner we work is to be submissive, doing with sincerity the work we are given. We are to work with the right attitude, with honesty, and not with a view to earthly recognition.
The motivation for work is the fear of the Lord who holds us accountable. We work for His glory, reflecting who He is in what we do. We labour for Christ, and from Him will receive an inheritance.
The Master we serve is Christ, with whom we are fellow heirs. Although Roman slaves had no inheritance, our Master will reward us according to our work.
