Why engage in the pursuit of the Bible? Because it is the very word of God. In every verse of Psalm 119, the Psalmist identifies Scripture as something coming from God. Because there is no other way to know God, Scripture is the starting point of understanding.

If we are to worship God, we must worship him how he has revealed himself. In Psalm 19, David describes God as an awesome and powerful God; but one who also comes to peace to his servants.

As Christians, we are called to live consistent with our calling, being watchful over our behaviour.

Paul writes to the Thessalonians, reminding them of the certainty of Jesus' coming, and how to live expecting it.

Hope is what keeps you going through the dark times of life. But the worst hope is the hope that is found to be false when tested. That is why we need biblical hope: hope that will never fail.

Although we have been chosen by God for eternal life, we still have to fight the flesh. This is why Christ instructs us to pray "deliver us from evil." We fight because we are delivered, not because we must earn deliverance.

We have an obligation to God since we are the lawbreakers. Because He has greatly forgiven us, how can we withhold forgiveness from others? Christian forgiveness is based on God's own forgiveness for us.

"Give us this day our daily bread" comes after "Your will be done" in the Lord's prayer, because praying for God's name should come first. But Jesus nonetheless commands us to pray for basic needs, praying without self-sufficiency, praying as a community, and praying repeatedly.

Nations have a plan for dealing with national threats like war. As Christians, are we equipped to fight the "fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul" (1 Pet. 2:11)? In Matthew 4:1 - 11, we see that Christ has conquered temptation, and therefore can help us too.
