New Community Church is led by a Pastor and a group of elder, supported by deacons. Together, the team serves the saints by performing various tasks ranging from the teaching the Word to administrative duties. At present, the leadership team comprises the following members.
Geoff Hohneck, Senior Pastor
Geoff is senior pastor and has a high value of the local church. He understands the church as being the organism God has put in place to strengthen believers in their faith in Jesus Christ. He also sees his role as an under shepherd of the God’s people at NCC who with his fellow elders, shepherd the flock so as to equip them for ministry.
Geoff's main area of service is preaching, visitation and leading Home Group bible studies. Geoff graduated with a B.A. in Christian Ministries (2001) from Adelaide College of Ministries. In 2009 he graduated with a masters award in Religious Education (MRE) from Cornerstone University (formerly Grand Rapids Theological Seminary).
Geoff and his wife, Valmae, have been married for thirty eight years, and God has blessed them with 3 sons, 2 daughters and thirteen grandchildren. He cites some books that have impacted him as being, Brothers We Are Not Professionals - J Piper; Ashamed of The Gospel - J MacArthur; No Place For Truth - D Wells; Creation Regained - AB Wolters.
Steve Grant, Elder
A Baptist Pastor in Sydney and Hobart (since 2000), Steve’s ministry passion is shepherding the flock through discipleship, teaching and preaching. He and his wife Karen have 4 children and 8 grandchildren. His hobby is marine fish and corals.
He is also trying, albeit unsuccessfully, to take up golf.
Peter Rufus, Elder
Peter and his wife, Brinda, have been worshipping at New Community Church ever since they arrived in South Australia from India early in 2008. An advertising copywriter by trade, Peter uses his writing skills to create promotional material for the church's various initiatives. Passionate about God and His Word, Peter also serves by leading Sunday worship, playing the keyboards as well as assisting one of the home groups in Bible Study.
